2019 Hyundai Veloster N spied

The new Hyundai Veloster N hot hatch has been spied in Germany.

This latest prototype seems to occupy a higher performance plane than the Veloster model spotted at the beginning of the year.

Compared to that earlier vehicle, this car has red brake callipers, larger alloy wheels, a chin spoiler at the front, and a hefty disguise around the tailgate, hiding what seems to be a taller rear spoiler.

The exhaust tips are larger as well, and have been moved to opposing sides of the car. This leads us to believe this car is a pre-production prototype for the Veloster N.

Like the first-generation Veloster and earlier prototypes of the second-generation model, the Veloster N will again feature one large door on the driver’s side, and two smaller doors on the other side.

Compared with today’s car, the new Veloster should have styling that’s a little more corporate and less polarising.

Under the bonnet, the Veloster N will likely use a version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine being developed for the i30 N.

For the upcoming Golf GTI-fighter, the engine will be available in two states of tune: a regular model with around 186kW of power, and a more powerful track-oriented variant boasting around 205kW.

The i30 N will initially be available solely with a six-speed manual transmission, although an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission will come online from 2019.
