2014-17 Peugeot 308, 508 recalled for starter motor fix

French automaker Peugeot has issued a recall for its 308 and 508 model lines sold between November 2014 and March 2017 over concerns a faulty starter motor connection could pose a fire risk.

The company reports that the 12-Volt starter motor connection lug could be fitted incorrectly, and touch a metal component.

If the condition occurs, this could cause a short circuit, potentially posing a fire hazard.

Affected 308 and 508 vehicles were sold from 1 November 2014 through 31 March 2017. A VIN list for these models can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled Peugeot units will be contacted via mail, and will be advised to present their 308 or 508 to their local dealer to have the starter motor connection inspected and, if necessary, reposition the connection the connection lug free of charge.

This recall notice comes after sister company Citroen recalled its C5, DS4 and DS5 lines for the same fault earlier this week.
