11 Tragic Deaths at Disney Grounds

contrary to popular belief Disney isn’t always the magical place that we make it up to be for some a can be a sad reminder of a terrible event coming up stories of people that died at Disney including a little boy who is eaten by an alligator a man who suffered a heart attack after a ride and one Disney worker who was crushed by a parade float join us as we tell you about some of the most controversial deaths that took place various Disney locations the first Disney death the first Disney death would occur in 1964 and this is why you need to leave your seat belt buckled and lap bar latched 15 year-old Mark Maples his buddy decided to take a ride on the Matterhorn bobsleds and when they were nearing the top of the ride markwood stupidly on Buckle the seatbelt and try to stand up however the movement of the ride would cause him to lose his balance and he crashing down onto the track below the impact would fractured skull in ribs and calls other internal injuries but the phone didn’t in there he suffered for 3 days before he used to come to his injuries and died so the next time that you wondering why in the world anyone would try to unlatch the lap bar you’ll know that the warning is in place because of people like Mark thankfully these days most rides have an auto lock system so you couldn’t even get out if you wanted to the hungry hungry gator in case you didn’t know Florida is kind of crawling with alligators and just like most Wildlife they have no respect for boundaries even if you’re one of the largest tourist Buy cineworld a family that included a two-year-old boy named Lane Graves was staying at Walt Disney World hotel when their vacation became a nightmare the family headed out to a man-made Lagoon and beach around dust watch a fun family film however dusk is also the prime time for alligators to hunt for their prey nearby children were playing in the water and sand and lean joined in on the phone even though signs were posted on the Lagoon saying that swimming was prohibited there were no warnings about alligators to guess what even report seeing an alligator near the shoreline to Hotel employees moments later tragedy would strike the alligator unprovoked and just doing whatever it is that alligators do it the boy’s head and drag them deep into the water which is the usual strategy for killing its prey Lanes father jumped in after the gator but we unable to free him from the grasp of its jaws and the gator would drown them after killing six alligators in search for the boy Lane’s body was found with just a few bite-marks leading them to think that the alligator dropped him after father tried to rescue him so here’s a lesson learned if you’re in Florida near any kind of body of water always be on the lookout for low-lying alligator’s Karma can be well you know text stories why it’s always better to pay the posted admission price in 1966 nineteen-year-old Thomas Guy Cleveland must not have agreed with a Disneyland ticket prices because he tried to sneak in by climbing a 16 foot and following the monorail tracks into the park on like Dorothy however he didn’t quite make it to his magical destination security would see him and try to warn the young man of an oncoming train however unable to go out of the monorail sway by leaving off the track he climbed onto a canopy underneath the track but there just wasn’t enough clearance and the train hit and killed them and then dragged his lifeless body 30 to 40 ft down track which would force the security guards to hose the kids remains off the underside of the train following the incident the lesson learned here don’t sneak into Disney don’t drink and drive if you’re not a Disney Employee you shouldn’t be operating any kind of disney-owned equipment especially if you’re intoxicated it was June of 1983 when 18-year old Philip Strahan and his friend were celebrating their graduation along with Philips birthday party at Disney after a night of heavy drinking they found their way into a cast members only area along the rivers of America which is a man-made River in frontierland that’s when they saw an inflatable motor boat used for maintenance and decided to take it for a spin it however boating and alcohol don’t really mix and they would lose control of the boat hitting a large rock near Tom Sawyer Island tossing the drunken Philip into the water his sidekick he’s able to make it back to the shore but in the hours that it took to find Phillips body he had already drowned this is all just a good reason to follow the rules no matter how much fun drunkenly driving a boat around a Disney River may sound death by dinosaur in 2005 a thirty-year-old Indiana man with a pacemaker wood board the animal kingdom dinosaur ride but he probably wish that he had read the warnings that were posted before jumping in line after the who is over the man lost Consciousness and then had a heart attack which is confirmed to be the cause of his death for the usual protocol the ride was evaluated and as it turns out it was operating correctly when the man was on board thereby eliminating the ride is the cause of the man’s death unfortunately though his body and pacemaker just couldn’t handle the Thrilla in the adrenaline rush that came with the ride Daredevils knowing voice on the PA system installed in rides that reminds you to wait until the vehicle is fully stopped before attempting to exit the ride you should probably listen to those or you could end up like seventeen-year-old Ricky Lee Yama Monday at Tomorrowland Ricky hopped on the one month old people mover which is a transit system that gives passengers a tour of the amusement park however he must have not have liked his seat because despite the warnings into another car or at least he tried to all while the train was moving he lost his balance and fell onto the track and that’s when he was squashed by an oncoming train which dragon body a few hundred feet down the track which is a grim reminder to take the word of the man that your listening to through that little speaker just like me don’t attempt to change seats while the ride is in motion roller monster on the loose one day in 2003 one of the cars on the infamous Big Thunder railroad completely derailed in flew off of the train tracks and right into bystander marchello Torres marchello unfortunate passed away due to internal bleeding and blunt force trauma and 10 Riders on the train were injured sadly this could have all been prevented had the right undergone proper maintenance so in a surprising move disney-owned to the mistake and settled with Marcello’s parents outside of Court since he was a graphic artist is parents put some of the money to good use donating $500,000 to the Brooks college to benefit future animators now just for you Brown piece of mind maybe you should ask to see the proof of Maintenance certificate before you get on a potentially dangerous ride it really is a Small World After All in 2010 subcontracted cleaning professional cleaning the boat when it’s somehow end up dragging him underneath of the boat and due to the weight of the boat and its position on the tracks he was unable to escape resulting in multiple severe injuries he would then be lifted to a nearby hospital where he later died now we fast forward to Christmas Dave 2014 where a 22 year old woman boarded the iconic ride but lost Consciousness shortly after it began she would end up dying it was an odd reaction given that the attraction is nothing more than an easygoing boat ride but as it turns out she did have a pre-existing condition but likely contributed to her death it’s a small and dangerous world after all keep your hands to yourself I get that the ridiculously long lines the hot Florida sun and the $8 bottles water or enough to drive you crazy but things should never get out of hand the way that they did in March of 1981 that’s when an 18 year old man presumably bored of standing in line allegedly pinched another man’s girlfriend Tomorrowland like any good boyfriend he stood up for his girl and a fight ensued during the fight the two men would go to fisticuffs and the boyfriend will he played dirty and stabbed The Stranger now how exactly that the man was able to sneak a weapon into the park is beyond anyone but security was probably a bit more relaxed back in the 80s the victim’s family would end up suing Disney because they didn’t call for outside Med will help and the jury awarded them $600,000 just like on the rides it’s probably best to keep your hands at your sides at all times Pluto’s accident in 2004 thirty-eight-year-old Javier Cruz who was hired to dress as the Beloved Pluto was getting ready for the daily parade in frontierland but things took a turn for the worst when Javier’s Foot caught on the Beauty and the Beast float causing him trip and fall directly into the floats path poor Xavier didn’t have time to react and was hit and killed by the float is co-workers would try to help him but they ended up needing a forklift to take the weight of the float on Club is now deceased body of course the occupational safety and health administration also known as OSHA was not really too happy about the incident and find the park $6,500 for violating the employee safety Javier left behind his two daughters that fateful day and it’s just a reminder to be careful at all times even if you’re taking a stroll through the Magic Kingdom dressed as a large dog the Epcot suicide not all deaths at Disney locations are accidents that’s because in 1992 a 37 year old man found his way into the Epcot Center after it closed for the day flashed his gun at 3 security cards ex girlfriend who just so happen to be in Epcot employee goes way south from there he must have not have gotten the answer that he wanted because he then fired for rounds and grab two of the three guards and threw them into a nearby bathroom where he kept them hostage after police would show up and swarm the area where the guards were being kept the men eventually let them go and shortly after he began talking to the boy but then I decided to make the happiest place on Earth the most sad and depressing because that’s when he shot himself in the head and these are just some of the reported deaths that have happened at Disney but what do you know have you heard of any other tragic Disney events let us know in the comments below and thanks for watching the stratosphere insanity this is one ride that’s not for anyone with a fear of heights when you board Insanity located in Las Vegas you’re placed in an individual sees him strapped in securely but seriously make sure that you check those straps

Contrary to popular belief, Disney isn’t always the magical place we make it up to be. For some, it’s a sad reminder of a terrible event. Coming up….stories of people that died at Disney, including a little boy who was eaten by an alligator, a man who suffered a heart attack after a ride, and a Disney worker that was crushed by a parade float. Join us as we tell you about some of the most controversial deaths that took place at various Disney locations!

First Disney Death
The first disney death occurred in 1964….and this is why you leave your seat belt buckled and lap bar latched. Fifteen-year-old Mark Maples and his buddy decided to take a ride on the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

Hungry, Hungry Gator
The latest death at Disney occurred earlier this year and broke the hearts of people across the world. In case you didn’t know, Florida is crawling with alligators, and like most wildlife, they have no respect for boundaries even if you’re one of the largest tourist spots in the world. A family, including a two-year-old little boy named Lane Graves, was staying at a Walt Disney World hotel when their vacation turned into a nightmare.

Karma’s a….well, you know
This next story is why it’s always better to pay the posted admission price. In 1966, nineteen-year-old Thomas Guy Cleveland must not have agreed with the Disneyland ticket prices because he tried to sneak in by climbing a 16-foot fence and following the monorail tracks into the park.

Don’t Drink and Drive
If you’re not a Disney employee, you shouldn’t be operating any Disney-owned equipment…especially if you’re intoxicated. In June of 1983, 18-year-old Philip Straughan and his friend were celebrating their graduation and Philip’s birthday at Disney.

Death by Dinosaur
In 2005, a 30-year-old Indiana man with a pacemaker boarded the Animal Kingdom Dinosaur ride, but I bet he wished he had read the warnings that were posted before jumping in line.

Daredevils
You know that annoying voice on the PA system installed in rides reminding you to wait until the vehicle is fully stopped before attempting to exit the ride? You should probably listen to those, or you could end up like 17-year-old Ricky Lee Yama.

Roller Coaster on the Loose
Even if you’re not on the ride, you’re not immune to being injured, or even killed, by it. One day in 2003, one of the cars on the infamous Big Thunder Railroad completely derailed and flew off the train tracks and right into bystander Marcelo Torres.

It’s a Small World After All
This fan favorite has actually been the cause of multiple deaths. In 2010, a subcontracted cleaning professional was cleaning the boat when it somehow turned on.

Keep Your Hands to Yourself
I get that the ridiculously long lines, hot Florida sun, and eight-dollar bottles of water are enough to drive you crazy, but things should never get this out of hand.

Pluto’s Accident
Even if you’re a run-of-the-mill Disney employee just going about your day, things can still go horribly wrong. In 2004, 38-year-old Javier Cruz, who was hired to dress as the beloved Pluto, was getting ready for the daily parade in Frontierland.

The Epcot Suicide
Not all deaths as Disney locations are accidents….In 1992, a 37-year-old man found his way into the Epcot Center after it had closed for the day and flashed his gun at three security guards. He demanded to see his ex-girlfriend, who happened to be an Epcot employee.

This list of Disney deaths just proves that no matter who you are, whether you’re a guest, regular employee, or contracted helper, you’re not protected from tragedy even inside the walls of the happiest place on earth.
